This year we plan to collaborate with in school districts to provide free professional development for Physical Education teachers. We will work closely with schools that are Title 1 and providing spaces for LGBTQ+ students. Our plan is to tackle the barriers that prevent teachers from providing students with these needed healing experiences. This includes developing back country skills, outdoor first aid certifications, and creating curriculum accessible to educators.

This Year's Goals

Why Physical Education?

We believe physical education is a key component of providing the skills and experiential opportunities for our young people.

Color the Outdoors focuses on supporting educators that are servicing our focus populations in confidently accessing the outdoors. Through these relationships and other adventure opportunities we can best utilize these spaces and “Color the Outdoors”.

Mental Health

The beautiful part of the outdoors is you learn to accept the differences and uniqueness of it all. This is a very powerful mindset for our young people to develop and we believe it can benefit them in a multitude of ways. To do this we must break down barriers and build relationships with the outdoors at earlier ages.

Color the outdoors not only strives to provide our young people with access but to fully engage in exploring mental health activities. In addition to creating access we hope to provide outdoor yoga, drum healing, and team building activities for school groups.
